Materiality at AD: Crafting Stories Through Substance
When someone settles into a piece of furniture, the first impression is rarely verbal. It’s the feel of the fabric, the support beneath, the quiet confidence of form and function working in harmony. At Amardeep, we believe that materials are more than components—they are the soul of every design. From the start, material selection is a considered process. Whether tailored to a design vision or to meet a client’s preferences, each material is chosen with care. What follows is a journey of craftsmanship—where skilled hands bring every idea to life.
We work with a wide range of materials, from classic choices to newer, more responsible ones. Rattan, aluminium sheet, cork sheet, and natural latex foam sheet are some examples of what we’ve recently explored. Their visual appeal, performance, and tactile quality add a new dimension to our creations. Sustainability remains a key consideration. While we continue to evolve, we’ve taken steps towards integrating recycled and renewable options in our products. These include recycled plastics and metals, reclaimed wood, and eco-conscious textiles and foam.
“Materials don’t just build furniture they build experiences. At AD, every texture tells a story, and every choice is intentional.”
While the pursuit of new materials opens up exciting possibilities, it also presents challenges. Limited availability, lack of standardization, and inconsistencies in supply and quality can pose obstacles. However, AD addresses these issues through rigorous research, quality control, and strategic partnerships, ensuring that even the most experimental materials meet the highest standards.
Looking ahead, AD remains committed to redefining material application in furniture design. The exploration of circular materials, those that can be continuously repurposed, will play a pivotal role in the brand’s sustainability mission. With a growing emphasis on recycled and renewable resources, AD is set to lead the way in responsible and innovative furniture-making.
